PTFE gaskets are widely used. For cracks in industrial facilities, PTFE gaskets can be used for plugging and repairing, and can also be used for the installation and splicing of some brittle materials. Teflon gaskets are not only used in industrial facilities, but also widely used in some related facilities in the field of food or medicine, because Teflon gaskets will not cause any pollution to the material of the repair facilities, and it is a sealed and clean product.
There are two reasons for the failure of the sealing performance of the PTFE gasket, one is its own reasons, and the other is the reason in use. Here is a brief introduction.
1. The reason of PTFE gasket itself
(1) The raw materials for the production of PTFE gaskets were improperly selected, and the old PTFE gaskets used before were selected. When the PTFE gasket is just used, its sealing performance will be affected by the medium, working environment and other factors. If the next production of PTFE gasket, the selection is used before the PTFE gasket, then the sealing is naturally reduced.
(2)The Teflon gasket was not selected correctly. Under the same compression load and the same medium pressure, the thicker the PTFE gasket, the lower the leakage rate. This is under the same axial load, the thick PTFE gasket has a larger compression rebound. The material of the PTFE gasket is not compatible with the medium transported; it will affect its sealing performance.
(3)There is a gap on the sealing surface of the PTFE gasket, including the gap between the sealing surfaces and the gap inside the sealing device. Its sealing performance will naturally decrease, so it may cause leakage due to failure.
2. Reasons in the use of PTFE gaskets
(1) The influence of working conditions. Among them, the temperature has a great influence on the sealing performance of the PTFE gasket. The research shows that with the increase of temperature, the elastic-plastic deformation and creep will increase, the rebound performance will decrease, and the aging, weight loss, creep and loosening will become more and more serious.
(2) the influence of compression stress. During assembly, the required pressing force is not reached, or the mechanical equipment vibration during long-term operation causes the pressing bolt to loosen.
