For medical applications involving highly active drugs, long-term indwelling devices, or stringent cleanliness requirements, the use of PFA tubing is strongly recommended to mitigate risks of chemical corrosion, drug adsorption, and plasticizer leaching. Although PFA tubing is more expensive, it significantly enhances treatment safety and extends equipment lifespan.
For short-term, low-risk routine infusions or respiratory support, medical-grade PVC tubing remains an economical and practical choice; however, it is essential to rigorously select products that are DEHP-free or exhibit low leaching.
