1. polytetrafluoroethylene, English name: Polytetrafluoroethylene, FTFE or F4.
Polytetrafluoroethylene is a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene. Polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon or PTFE), commonly known as "plastic king", was invented in 1938.
The F atom in PTFE molecule covers the C- C bond and the C- F bond energy is high and particularly stable. It is not attacked by any chemical except alkali metal and fluorine element.
The F atom in the PTFE molecule is symmetrical, the two elements in the C- F are covalently combined, there is no free electron in the molecule, and the whole molecule is neutral. PTFE has excellent dielectric properties. Because the PTFE molecule has a layer of inert fluorine-containing shell, it has outstanding non-stick properties and low friction coefficient.
PTFE has outstanding excellent comprehensive performance, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-stick, self-lubricating, excellent dielectric properties, very low coefficient of friction. The mechanical properties of PTFE can be greatly improved by adding any filler that can withstand the sintering temperature of PTFE. At the same time, other excellent properties of PTFE are maintained. Filled with varieties of glass fiber, metal, metal oxide, graphite, molybdenum disulfide, carbon fiber, polyimide, EKONOL, etc., wear resistance, limit PV value can be increased by 1000 times.
PTFE has excellent chemical stability, corrosion resistance, sealing, high lubrication non-stick, electrical insulation and good anti-aging resistance. Can work for a long time at a temperature of 250 ° C to -180 ° C. In addition to molten metal sodium and liquid fluorine, it can withstand all other chemicals and does not change when boiled in aqua regia.
PTFE engineering plastics can be made into PTFE tubes, rods, belts, plates, films, etc. It is generally used in corrosion-resistant pipes, containers, pumps, valves, radar, high-frequency communication equipment, radio equipment and so on. The dispersion liquid can be used as an insulating immersion liquid for various materials and an anti-corrosion layer on the surface of metal, glass and pottery. All kinds of PTFE ring, PTFE gasket, PTFE packing, etc. are widely used in all kinds of anti-corrosion pipeline flange sealing. In addition, it can also be used for spinning, PTFE fiber-Fluoron (foreign trade name is Teflon).
Polytetrafluoroethylene resin is mostly powder or dispersion. PTFE powder resin is white, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic powder. When processed into products become transparent or opaque white material, wax-like non-hydrophilic, smooth non-sticky, appearance such as polyethylene. With a density of up to 2.14g/m3, it is the heaviest of plastics. According to the preparation method, there are three main categories of polytetrafluoroethylene: suspension resin, dispersion resin and concentrated dispersion. Suspension resin accounts for about 66.81 per cent and dispersion resin for 31.19 per cent in China.

Application of 2. Suspension Polytetrafluoroethylene
Suspension method PTFE is mainly used in the manufacture of mechanical industry with seals, gaskets, etc., as well as chemical equipment with pumps, valves, pipe fittings and equipment lining, etc., in addition to manufacturing electrical insulation parts, films, etc. Suspension PTFE is generally divided into the following three categories:
1. Micro-powder:
The average diameter of the particles is 20 ~ 35μm, which can be molded by compression molding.
2. Granular material:
It has good powder fluidity and large apparent density. Coarse particles (particle size of about 300μm) for automatic molding, hydraulic molding, can also be used for general molding.
3. Pre-sinter:
The plunger method can be used to process into finer and thinner products. Such as the diameter of 5~50mm bar, wall thickness of 3~25mm pipe.
Application of Dispersion Polytetrafluoroethylene
Dispersion PTFE is mainly used in the manufacture of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high dielectric wire and cable. In the chemical industry, mainly used in the manufacture of threaded sealing raw material belt, pipe lining and so on.
4. High compression ratio powder:
Extrusion molding under the condition of compression ratio greater than 2500:1 is suitable for processing into thin-walled thin tubes and wire insulation sheath with diameter less than 2mm and wall thickness of 0.2~0.5mm.
5. Medium compression ratio powder:
In the compression ratio is greater than 400:1 under the condition of extrusion, suitable for processing into a diameter of 2~15mm, wall thickness of 0.5mm above the medium-sized thin-walled tube.
6. Low compression ratio powder:
In the compression ratio of less than 300:1 under the condition of extrusion, suitable for processing into a thicker pipe and diameter of more than 5mm thick bar.
Application of PTFE Concentrated Dispersion
PTFE concentrated dispersion is mainly used for food, textile, printing and dyeing, paper and other industries in the anti-sticking coating and impregnated glass cloth, asbestos and so on. It can also be used for glass fibers and porous materials.
