PFA and PTFE are widely used raw materials, so what are the specific differences between the two:
1. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Ordinary PTFE tube is white and opaque, mainly including conduit, hose, pipe lining pipe, braided reinforced pipe, etc. PTFE tube has excellent resistance to high and low temperature performance and excellent chemical resistance, can transport temperature up to 260 ℃ liquid or gas, and high chemical purity, the most suitable for a wide range of continuous working temperature requirements. The excellent electrical properties of PTFE tubes also make them the most suitable materials in the electronics and electrical fields. They are mainly used for electrical insulation sheaths, chemical transportation, heat exchangers, medical urinary catheters and surgical vascular bypass.
2, tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkoxy vinyl copolymer (PFA).
The physical properties, electrical properties and chemical properties of PFA are similar to those of polytetrafluoroethylene, and it is a copolymer of a small amount of perfluoropropyl perfluorovinyl ether and polytetrafluoroethylene. The melt cohesiveness is enhanced, the solution viscosity is reduced, and the performance is unchanged compared with PTFE. This kind of resin can be directly processed into products by ordinary thermoplastic molding methods. Long-term use temperature -80 -- 260 degrees, has excellent chemical resistance, corrosion resistance to all chemicals, the friction coefficient is the lowest in plastics, and has good electrical properties, its electrical insulation is not affected by temperature.

The main difference between the two is:
Different nature of 1.
1. PFA: a copolymer of a small amount of perfluoropropyl perfluorovinyl ether and polytetrafluoroethylene.
2. PTFE: a polymer compound formed by the polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene.
2. characteristics are different
1. PFA characteristics:
(1) crystalline material, moisture absorption is small. It can be processed into products through thermoplastic processing methods.
(2) Poor fluidity, easy to decompose, and corrosive gas is generated during decomposition. The molding temperature does not exceed 475 ℃, the mold is heated to 150-200 ℃, and the resistance of the gating system to the material flow is small.
(3) translucent pellets, injection molding, extrusion molding. Molding temperature 350-400 ℃,475 ℃ and above is easy to cause discoloration or blistering. Pay attention to the difficulty of demoulding.
(4) Due to the corrosive effect of molten materials on metals, long-term production requires chromium plating on the mold.
2. PTFE characteristics:
(1) High temperature resistance: long-term use temperature 200~260 ℃;
(2) Low temperature resistance: soft at -100 ℃;
(3) corrosion resistance: resistance to aqua and all organic solvents;
(4) Weather resistance: the best aging life of plastics;
(5) High lubrication: with the smallest coefficient of friction in plastics (0.04);
(6) Non-stickiness: It has the smallest surface tension in solid materials without adhering to any substances.
The contrast between the two:
1. PFA is a melt-processable thermoplastic. The PFA tube has excellent stress crack resistance and bending life, but the penetration performance is not as good as PTFE.
2, both have almost the same high temperature resistance (maximum working temperature 220 degrees), acid and alkali corrosion resistance, but PTFE hardness, not easy to process molding, even processed into pipe is also easy to break. The PFA is introduced into the main chain structure of PTFE alkoxy, which effectively reduces its hardness and greatly improves its plasticity, while maintaining good high temperature resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance. However, the processing technology of these two materials in China is relatively backward.
